Woah. My last day at work is in exactly one month. I’ve already given my notice at the hospital where I’ve been a working as a surgical tech on labor and delivery. It’s true. I really am quitting my job so I can travel the world! Having my last day in sight makes it seem more real. A lot more real. (…maybe I should actually get started packing up my house!)
For those of you who can do math and realize that while I’ve said I’m leaving in March, I am stopping my job in the beginning of February, I have a rather big project in the works for before I leave as well. I’ll be directing (and performing in) the Greeley V-Day’s 2014 performance of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monlogues” over Valentine’s Day weekend. I’ve been in all but 2 of the Greeley performances of the show since 2004. It is important to me to do the show one more time before I leave. Working to end violence against women globally is of great importance to me. Doing the show is a way to raise awareness globally and locally and to support local and global organizations helping women. I hope to volunteer somewhere or another while on my travels. Maybe I can incorporate my passion for women’s causes into that volunteerism… My sister and her boyfriend have been living in Kolkata, India since this past August 2013. He is a jazz saxophonist with a fellowship to study Hindustani music and she, having just finished her masters in music education, is teaching music at a school in Kolkata. My plan is to statrt my trip there. I also have family in India and I’d like to spend a little time there, seeing a few of the sights that I haven’t seen yet. My goal is to be in India by Holi. That’s the Hindu festival of colors. I haven’t been in India for that celebration (that I know of). This year, it falls on March 17th (yes, St. Patrick’s Day, the double whammy!) So the countdown is on. I leave before Mid-March. Rehearsals have started for the monologues. We have over 20 women in the cast this year! And I have only one month left to work at the hospital!
Time, where do you go, and in such a hurry?
